LCC Anti-Hazing Policy & Definitions

What Constitutes Hazing?

LCC defines hazing as any method of initiation or pre-initiation into a student organization, athletic team, or living group, or any pastime or amusement engagement with respect to such an organization, that causes, or is likely to cause, bodily danger, physical harm, or serious mental or emotional degradation or humiliation to any student or other person.

Placing a zero on the report does not mean vigilance stops. Hazing can occur regardless of a person’s willingness to participate.

Mandated Disclosures

To remain compliant with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, LCC guarantees that:

  1. This log is updated bi-annually (on or before January 15 and August 15 of each calendar year).
  2. The log preserves at least five (5) years of historical institutional data.
  3. All registered student organizations and athletic teams receive mandatory hazing prevention training annually.

How to Report an Incident

If you have witnessed hazing, experienced hazing, or suspect that a student organization is engaging in hazing behaviors, please report it immediately. Reports can be made anonymously.

Retaliation against any individual who reports hazing or participates in a hazing investigation is strictly prohibited under LCC Board Policy and federal law.
