Employee Wellness Spring 2022

Take time to care for your most valuable resource, your health. LIFE (Lasting Improvements for Employees) events are open to all Lane employees, their spouses/domestic partners and their dependents (16 years or older), along with retirees. Anything Goes - Cardio and Core - through Zoom and Recordings
Every class is different, thus it’s a surprise every time you come. We will focus on aerobic and core fitness using a variety of techniques. All fitness levels are welcome as you work at your own intensity. This class also compliments the Tuesday/Thursday 4:05 p.m. strength class. This class is for Lane employees and their family members. Caregivers Support Group, Tuesdays, 4/5, 5/3 & 6/7, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Zoom meetings
Are you taking care of your siblings, parents or your in-laws? Do you have care giving needs? Do you know about assisted living facilities? If you have these questions and more, this is the group for you. Come share your stories, learn about valuable resources and get support. This meetings are for Lane employees and their family members. (Free)  Join these Support Group meetings here on zoom.

Energize & Thrive Wellness Challenge Part 2 - Set Your Own Goal, April 4 - May 8 (Five Weeks)
Join this Challenge to continue what you've started and or set a new physical activity goal to improve your mental, emotional and physical health. If you weren't able to participate, or meet your goal, last term, you'll have a chance to try again. If you meet 75% of that goal, you’ll receive an incentive of your choice: zip up sweatshirt with Wellness logo and inspirational image or a free LCC gym membership for one term (a $45 value). If you already met your goal last term and received an incentive, you'll have a chance to receive the other incentive, while supplies last! : - )

Fitness Education Center - Employee Option
The Fitness Center is open to all employees for $45 (transportation fee waived) for the term. Professional staff are on duty to help you with your exercise programming. We have state of the art equipment. Drop in any time during the open hours:

Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm and Fridays 9am - 1pm. The center will be closed during campus Holidays & In-service Days. You must wear a mask and follow all current COVID-19 Safety Procedures for Lane.

FUNctional Fitness - through Zoom and Recordings
Have fun in a safe and supportive environment while improving your stamina, balance, flexibility, posture and strength. These classes are designed for all fitness levels, ages and sizes. We’ll do cardio, strength, stretching and myofascial release (i.e. self-massage) exercises to help you with your daily activities and recreational pursuits. This class is for Lane employees and their family members. (Free)

Malana Kakou: Breath and Movement – through Zoom and meeting in person at the Multicultural Center
Hula is a deeply valued and indelible part of Hawaiian cultural consciousness. Participants of this class will engage in a cultural learning experience through an introduction to Hula Protocol, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language), Mele/ʻOli (music and chant), movement and posture. The two primary categories of movement will be the focus of this class, Hula Kahiko and Hula ʻAuana. Students will be able to identify each category through key elements accompanying the movement. Participants will be able to immerse themselves in the storytelling process that breathe life into the nuanced gestures that, the hallmark of this practice. E hula ana kākou, mālana kākou! (Letʻs all dance, letʻs move together!)

Small Changers/Healthy Habits – through Zoom & Email Check-Ins
Whether you are trying to save money, clear clutter, eat more vegetables, get more physically active, or start a new healthy habit of any kind, making changes are easier with support and accountability. Small changes can positively impact your self-esteem, energy level and overall health.  Sharing your thoughts, challenges and successes are encouraged and not required. We meet every other week. This class is for Lane employees and their family members.  (Free)

Super Circuits Variety Pack – through Zoom and Recordings
Join these fun and energizing workouts.  No matter what your current fitness level is, you’ll improve your aerobic capacity and strength while training using your own body weight, or home equipment, with encouraging coworkers.  We’ll do circuit training and group workouts for your endurance and strength building pleasure. This class is for Lane employees and their family members. (Free)

Total Body Strength - through Zoom and Recordings
Improve your strength, agility, balance and flexibility. You'll press, row, squat and move in all directions to improve your overall well-being.  This class is for beginners to advanced exercisers as you work at your own intensity level with fun music and motivating coworkers. We’ll use a variety of training methods and compliment the Monday/Wednesday 4:05 p.m. cardio class. (Free)

Wellness Activity Release Time: Please Sign up if you aren’t in a Wellness Class/Fitness Education Center
Relieve stress, socialize with coworkers, improve your stamina and be counted for your Wellness Release time. Classified staff get up to one hour of release time each week for wellness activities such as walking, jogging or badminton. You’ll also get weekly self-care wellness tips through our Moodle platform. (Free).

Yoga Tuesdays (Gentle) – through Zoom and Recordings
This is your time to enjoy moving, stretching, relaxing and deepening your capacity to take on the challenges of being a human in today's world. All levels of experience are welcome. Modifications of poses will be taught to meet individual needs. The class will include a mix of fundamental standing, balance and core strength poses, and seated stretches. This class is for Lane employees and their family members. (Free)
