Faculty In-Service 2024

Monday, September 23, 2024 - Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Day

Faculty will join together for our 3rd Annual Assessment Day! Instructors once again have a day dedicated to engaging in improving student success through the gathering and use of evidence of student learning. Collaborate with colleagues to update student learning outcomes and use evidence gathered in 2023-2024 to plan improvements in instruction, curriculum, and student support! All events will occur in Building 19, Rooms 104/105 unless otherwise noted.

8:30 - 9:50

Assessment Day Morning Meetup - in person or Zoom

Join colleagues for coffee and refreshments, then gain some momentum on assessment for the year by talking about our goals and systems. Join Rand and a few special guests who will discuss their perspective on assessment or announce their afternoon sessions.

10:00 - 10:30

Simple Data Leads to Complex Conversations - in person or Zoom

Following the morning session, join Rand for a brief overview of how to look at data in Watermark and what to do with it once you have it.

10:00 - 12:00

Collaboration - Zoom Room open for support!

Areas that gathered evidence of student learning in 23-24 can use their data to initiate conversations about teaching & learning (then write a short Assessment Report).

Collaborate with your area colleagues and/or work independently on Assessment planning, outcomes revision, curricular mapping, and figuring out how to gather student-level data on course outcomes.

Rand & Tammy will be available in 19/104-105. Faculty can choose to work at tables (bring your laptops). This may be especially appealing to departments of one who would like some collaborative engagement with others.

We’ll also have a Zoom Room on the Dten to answer questions and provide moral (and morale) support.

12:00 - 1:00 Break for lunch! Eat on your own, with area colleagues, or bring lunch to 19/103 and hang out.
1:00 - 2:00 Continue morning work
2:00 - 3:00
