Academic Scheduling
The Academic Scheduler oversees the assignment of Lane Community College classroom spaces, maintains the 25Administrative Utility and coordinates class section data in 25Live, LYNX, and Banner.
Lane Classroom Definitions
Classrooms
General Use Classrooms are used for a variety of classes and typically do not have specialized equipment that may pose a hazard to students or staff not trained in its use, e.g. equipment found in an auto tech or chemistry lab. All General Use Classrooms are designated as one of the following:
- Open
- Preassigned Not Blocked
Laboratory
Laboratories are classrooms equipped for experimentation, research or testing and that equipment may pose a danger to students or staff not trained in its use. Because of the possible danger, all laboratories are:
- Preassigned Blocked
Lecture/Lab
Lecture/Lab Classrooms are dual-purpose rooms appropriate for both lecture and lab use. It may be designated as:
- Preassigned Blocked
- Preassigned Not Blocked
Classroom Assignments
Instructional space scheduling is prioritized as follows:
- Credit Class Sections
- Noncredit Class Sections
- Events (a non-instructional meeting or gathering that is not CRN-based)
Lane classes, both credit and noncredit, have priority over events. This means an event may lose its reservation if the space reserved is needed for a class. If an event loses its reservation notification will be sent to the Event Scheduler who will work with the requester and attempt to find another space for the event.
Final Exams
Lane has a standard final exam schedule designed to minimize exam conflicts for students.
