2018 Classification and Compensation Study
What is the purpose of this study?
The current classification and compensation process was developed in 1994; therefore, this study is intended to bring the process up-to-date.
What can I do to help?
Participation by all classified employees is an integral part of this study. By completing the Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ), you are providing a detailed description of your job duities and telling us the way you support Lane and the students we serve.
PAQ Forms and Instructions:
- Office, Professional, Technical, and Supervisory Positions (examples: administrative, IT, Human Resources)
- Maintenance, Services, and Trades Positions (examples: custodial services, carpentry, electrical, HVAC)
You should complete whichever PAQ form you believe is most applicable to your job duties. Should you require assistance on determining which form to complete, please contact the Classification and Compensation Study team.
What will become of my completed PAQ?
Once you have completed the PAQ, and your manager has reviewed and signed it, Human Resources will receive it for further processing. In early January all completed PAQs will be submitted to Local Government Personnel Institute (LGPI), the consultant hired to complete the study, for review, comparison, and assessment against other entities with similar comparators. The information being compared to other entities is job classification and pay range.
The contractual agreement for the official results of the study to be presented to the College is June 30, 2018.
What is the deadline for submitting my PAQ and where should I return my completed form?
December 21, 2017 - Submit your completed PAQ by 5:00 p.m. and your name will be entered into a drawing for the possibility to win some fun swag (gifts).
January 5, 2018 - This is the final deadline.
Your completed PAQ should be reviewed and signed by your manager and then submitted to Human Resources. Submittals can be made electronically via email or hard copy.
