Purpose

In general, the advertising or the distribution and sale of commercial products by a profit-making or private organization, not directly related to or part of any college operation or program, is prohibited. This procedure describes the process for granting exceptions.

Narrative

The advertising or the distribution and sale of commercial products by a profit-making or private organization, not directly related to or part of any college operation or program, is prohibited except as described below.

Advertising and sales conducted as part of the Bookstore, Foodservices, and similar college enterprises is permitted. Certain extracurricular commercial activities that receive the specific approval of the director of Student Life and Leadership Development are permitted. Those individuals or organizations receiving approval for extracurricular commercial sales and activities shall dedicate a minimum of 15 percent of their gross profit to an official non-profit campus or community organization.

Facilities Scheduling for Sales Activities

  1. Scheduling for a facility will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Facilities scheduled for sales activities must be approved by Student Life and Leadership Development.
  3. No individual or organization shall be allowed to schedule sales activities more than three times in any given term. Sales are limited to two consecutive days.
  4. Sales or fundraising activities involving food shall meet required safety standards and anyone involved in the sale must have a current Food Handler’s Card.
