To support students who are active duty military and reservists by outlining procedures for release from class due to military service and ensuring eligibility for readmission following extended military service, in compliance with federal regulations (34 CFR 668.18).
Lane Community College recognizes the service obligations of active duty military personnel and military reservists, and supports students who are called to service.
Students will be granted excused release from classes when required to report for military duty. When military obligations result in a withdrawal or extended absence, the student may request readmission to the college.
Students returning from military service are eligible for readmission with the same academic status and into the same program they were enrolled in prior to their withdrawal. If the original program is no longer offered, the student will be placed into the program that is most similar in content and structure. Tuition and fees will remain the same for the first academic year back, when applicable. Readmission to certain programs may be subject to accreditation or licensing requirements in effect at the time of return.
To initiate readmission, students must notify the Student Records Office within a reasonable time typically within three years of completing service. Documentation of military service may be requested.
