This procedure describes the specific activities expected of instructors during summer term.
The accelerated schedule of instruction during summer term requires that students maintain regular attendance. It is essential that instructors maintain enrollment records during summer term to insure an acceptable level of enrollment.
Instructors shall follow the following policies during summer term.
- Students enrolled for four-week sessions who have been absent from the first one-twelfth of the clock hours of the total class and who have not contacted the instructor may be refused admission to the class. The instructor may replace the student with another who has been waiting for a vacancy.
- Students enrolled for other than a four-week session who have been absent from the first three classes and who have not contacted the instructor may be refused admission to the class. The instructor may replace the student with another who has been waiting for a vacancy.
- Instructors must take roll and record absences during summer term. The instructor may give the grade of "NC" (no credit) to students who have been refused admission to the class, unless the student has formally dropped the class before the college deadline. Students who have been admitted to the class as replacements must follow the regular schedule change process to add the class.
