While classified employees are non-exempt employees, and faculty and managers are exempt employees, this procedure provides guidelines for the number and nature of hours all employees are expected to work each week, and the responsibilities of the management supervisor for monitoring work schedules.
Work schedules are assigned by the management supervisor to meet the needs of the college. Individual work schedules must comply with state and federal and contractual guidelines governing overtime, rest periods, lunch breaks, and shift changes (see Overtime and the Classified Contract for more information).
Management supervisors are responsible for monitoring work schedules to insure that eligible employees report all overtime hours worked and all hours that are not work as scheduled.
Regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) work schedules for each employee category are established as follows:
Category | Weekly Schedule | Annual Schedule1 |
Classified | 40 hours 5 days2 | 260 days |
Faculty | 40 hours3 5 days2 | 170 days |
Management | 40 hours 5 days2 | 260 days |
1 This total includes all of the paid holidays listed in the appropriate contract or working agreement.
2 Exceptions to the five-day work week must be approved by the department administrator.
3 Thirty of the 40 hours are to be worked on-campus or at an alternate, assigned work site.
Exempt Employee - Exempt from Federal Overtime provisions. Faculty and Managers fall into this category
Non-Exempt Employee - Subject to federal overtime provisions. Employees represented by the LCC Employees Federation are non-exempt employees
