Purpose
To clarify the expectations around college community use of students’ stated pronouns.
Narrative
Lane Community College is committed to the accurate, consistent use of students’ asserted pronouns in creating a safe and inclusive environment for students which affirms their gender identity. The College and its employees will use gender-inclusive pronouns in student communications and student-facing electronic information systems.
Students have the legal right to assert their pronouns and expect those pronouns to be honored, respected, and supported. Once a student makes a college community member aware of their pronouns, the student will have those pronouns honored, respected, and supported in interactions with that person.
