Purpose

This procedure describes the specific steps a manager should take for timely notice to the affected employee. When grant funding ends for an employee with a contractual right to written notice of layoff, the management supervisor is responsible for providing sufficient notice to Human Resources.

Narrative

When grant funding ends for an employee with a contractual right to written notice of layoff, the management supervisor is responsible for providing sufficient notice to Human Resources as outlined in Employee Layoffs and Recall. If insufficient notice is provided to Human Resources, the department shall be responsible for any additional payroll expense.

Supervisors with questions about the applicability of layoff/recall, other contract language or personnel procedures to grant-funded employees may contact Human Resources for assistance.
