Purpose

The purpose of this procedure is to assure that contracted faculty non-teaching workload activities do not exceed the faculty member’s non-teaching workload limits and document how such activities further the college mission and goals at a program, department/division, or college-wide level.

Narrative

Contracted faculty are responsible for documenting planned non-teaching work annually through the following procedure:

  • Before the start of each academic year that the contracted faculty member is on contract (typically Fall unless working an approved alternative schedule that includes an alternative starting quarter), faculty members will document the non-teaching work activity(ies) they plan to accomplish for the year. These plans may be tentative and updated throughout the academic year.
  • Reporting should be complete by the Monday of the second instructional week of the quarter that the faculty member commences their annual contract.
  • Faculty are encouraged to engage with College leadership to identify non-teaching work activities that will further the College mission and goals at a program, department/division, or college-wide level.
