Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure network security and stability, and to allow students and employees access to internet-accessible services.

Narrative

This policy applies to all students and employees of the College.

Lane Community College permits students and employees to bring personally owned mobile devices (laptops, tablets, and smartphones) to College campuses and sites; however, we cannot guarantee support for these devices. The College allows access to wireless networks for the purpose of giving access to web-based internet services.

Records retention, public access requirements, and legal discovery apply when communicating on employee-owned devices while using the Lane network or communicating college business.

Definitions

Devices and mobile devices: include laptop computers, tablet computers, smartphones and any other computing devices (excluding printers, wireless routers, and Apple TVs) used as clients for internet access and are able to access the College wireless internet services.
