The objectives of this Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) are to to protect the employees of Lane Community College Science, Math, Engineering Division from health hazards associated with hazardous chemicals and to meet legislative requirements of OAR 437-02-1910, Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories (Appendix A), and. The plan is based on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance laws, American Chemical Society (ACS) chemical safety recommendations, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard on fire protection for laboratories using chemicals, and the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) guidelines for handling of hazardous waste. This program will function through fundamental rules, standard operating procedures, and facility maintenance.
