Apprenticeship Program - Limited Energy Technicians
3-Year Program – License A: Install, maintain, replace and repair electrical systems and equipment of under 100 volt-amperes, including protective signaling systems (fire alarm, nurse call, security), communications systems (data telecommunications, intercom and paging) and specialized control systems (HVAC, medical, boiler, clock and instrumentation).
2-Year Program – License B: Install, maintain, replace and repair electrical systems and equipment of under 100 volt-amperes, including communications systems (data telecommunications, intercom and paging) and specialized control systems (HVAC, medical, boiler, clock and instrumentation).
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of high school algebra with a grade of 'C' or better (or equivalent). Equivalent may be one term of College Algebra Math 60 and 65 or Math 70 with a grade of 'C'.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
* Local apprenticeship committee may require additional qualifications.
Limited energy technicians work indoors and outdoors. The work may require standing, bending and reaching in cold and wet conditions, and working in confined crawl spaces and at heights.
Minimum Journey-level Wage
License A: $32.75 per hour
License B: $32.19 per hour

Length of Apprenticeship
Training is attained with an emphasis on correspondence work. In addition, both class A and B license apprentices are required to attend one Saturday class session per term of enrollment. Class A represents a minimum 450 hour commitment over a period of three years and class B represents a minimum 306 hour commitment over a period of two years.
