No Cash Clothing Stash

Books, Clothing, Food, and School Supplies

Student Life and Leadership Development supports students by helping with basic needs through the Clothing Stash and the Rainy Day Pantry as well as the School Supply Shelf and the Book Exchange. All services below are open to all students currently enrolled in classes at Lane Community College.

The Stash LogoThe Clothing Stash

The Stash is a free thrift store that provides clothing and shoes for LCC students. The original No Cash Clothing Stash was started in the 1980s in partnership with Campus Ministries in a closet in Building 5. Over the years, the Clothing Stash has shortened its name, moved a few times, closed temporarily for a pandemic, and once again continues to serve and welcome students.

In our efforts to make the Stash more inclusive, we have removed gender labels and vanity sizes to make browsing more comfortable for all students. Clothing is organized by type of garment and style. You may visit the Stash once a week and select five items each visit. Feeling good in what you wear is one small step in taking back your autonomy in your world. We hope you can find this at the Stash.

Open for walk-ins starting in Spring Term! No appointment needed.

Food Pantry LogoRainy Day Pantry

The Rainy Day Pantry was established in 2013 by Lane Student Government Association and OSPIRG Students as an on-campus supplemental food pantry providing LCC students with nutritious food and personal care products.

Our food is supplied through a partnership with Food for Lane County and community donations. We do our best to support students with allergies and dietary restrictions and will make accommodations for food box pickup upon request.

We encourage you to think sustainably and bring your own shopping bag.

Hours

Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please fill out the Rainy Day Pantry Food Box Order form at least one day in advance so that we can assemble your order before you arrive. You must be logged into your student email account to access the form.

The order form allows you to customize your food box each week. Same day orders and walk-ins will be served on a supply available basis. Selection varies each week based on what we receive from the LCC Learning Garden and FOOD for Lane County.

The order form will prompt you to make an appointment to pick up your food box. If your schedule does not match ours, please follow the directions on page two of the order form to request accommodations.

Donations

We accept shelf-stable food and personal care items only. All items should be new in their original, unopened packaging, recently purchased, and in good condition. We do not accept food that is past its "best used by" date, homemade foods, or sugar-laden beverages, cookies, cakes, or candy. We also cannot accept over the counter medications.

You may drop off your donations in the Rainy Day Pantry/Clothing Stash, CEN 153, on Tuesdays or Thursdays or in Student Life & Leadership Development, CEN 201, on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. Please do not leave donations outside of CEN 153 when we are closed.

Food Donations

For crackers and cereals, individually boxed items are better than the large boxes with multiple unlabeled bags found at some stores. Anytime we have something without the ingredient, nutrition, or preparation information, we must research and create labels to attach to that product before distribution.

  • Canned meats and fish
  • Canned stew, soup, chili, broth
  • Canned vegetables and beans
  • Cereal, granola, muesli, oatmeal
  • Condiments and sauces
  • Cooking oil and healthy fats like olive oil or coconut oil

  • Dried or canned fruit, apple sauce, preferably low sugar
  • Crackers
  • Herbs and spices
  • Masa, mole, chiles, specialty spices
  • Microwave popcorn
  • Non-dairy milk in aseptic or boxed containers
  • Nut butters
  • Pasta
  • Rice, oatmeal, and other grains
  • Snack bars, granola bars, power bars, breakfast bars
  • Gluten-free food

Personal and Household Care Donations

We ask for many items to be individually wrapped or packaged whenever possible. This helps keep the item clean and sanitary and allows us to distribute individual items to more students.

  • Bar soap, individually wrapped
  • Deodorant
  • Dish detergent or dishwasher detergent in individual pods or tablets
  • Laundry soap in individual pods, sheets, or tablets
  • Menstrual hygiene products, individually wrapped pads, panty liners, tampons

School Supply Shelf

In Fall 2018, the Lane Student Government Association in partnership with Student Life & Leadership Development and Campus Surplus set up a school supply shelf outside of the Student Life office. This shelf is stocked with school supplies for LCC students. Available items may include notebooks, ruled and graph paper, folders, pens and pencils, paperclips, rubberbands, and more. Items vary according to what we receive from campus surplus and community donations.

Donations

We accept donations of office and school supplies for student use. Items in greatest demand are quad-ruled graph paper, college ruled notebook paper, erasers, and pens including highlighters. We also accept colored pens and pencils. You are welcome to check with us about specific items. If you are a college department, please send your items to surplus so that we stay in compliance with the college procedure for disposal of campus property. Please leave your donation at the front desk inside the Student Life office (CEN 201).

Donations

We accept books, textbooks, and magazines. All items are free; no money is exchanged. You may either place your donations directly on the bookshelf or leave your donation at the front desk inside the Student Life office (CEN 201).
