New Student Online Orientation
Before we get started, let’s make sure you’re on the right path.
Are you an international student?
Welcome to Lane, your home away from home. You do not need to complete this Online Orientation.
If you are a full time student, please email your International Advisors or schedule an appointment.
If you are a part time student, please complete our International Part Time Student Form
Have you completed College Now writing and math courses through your high school?
If you completed College Now writing and math, you do *not* need to complete Lane's course placement. You *do* need to first re-apply to Lane to switch your status from College Now to on-campus/online credit. If your status has already been updated, click “No” on this question.
Okay! Have you enrolled as a Lane student and received your L Number?
Stop here! You must have an L# to complete this process.
Please start the enrollment process and return after you receive an L#.
Great! Have you attended a college other than Lane, not as a high school student, and earned college credit?
Stop here! If you have earned college credit outside of high school, then you do not need to complete this Online Orientation.
Your next step is to visit or email your Academic Advisor and provide an unofficial transcript. For assistance, call 541-463-3800.
Got it. Are you pursuing a certificate or degree program at Lane and/or want Lane courses to transfer to another college/university?
Stop here! If you are taking courses solely for personal enrichment (not pursuing a program at Lane or at another college or utilizing Financial Aid), you do not need to do this Online Orientation. Your program of study should be declared as: Taking Credit Classes No Degree or Transfer - No Fin Aid. You can update your program of study in myLane under Enrollment and Student Financial Services, Student Records, View and Request change to Degree/Program of Study.
Last question. Have you completed writing and math course placement or testing through Lane?
Stop here! You must complete course placement and have your results or scores available before you start your Online Orientation. Note: If you took College Now writing and math courses, you do *not* need placement testing. Click "Yes" on this question.
